Interbike 2013 will host over 750 companies representing 1,200 plus brands at Mandalay Bay, Sept. 16th ‑20th. It’s “the place to be” for anything and everything under the sun — bicycling. “Interbike is the largest gathering of the bike industry in North America. This is where the tribe gathers – retailers, manufacturers, distributors, media – to conduct the business of cycling, in one area, Las Vegas, NV,” said Justin Gottlieb, the Director of Communications and Public Relations of Interbike.
“Many of the world’s top brands exhibit at Interbike, and the show is also a launching point for smaller companies and start-ups. Some of the most anticipated brands exhibiting at Interbike this year include Giant USA, Colnago, Chris King, Specialized, Shimano, SRAM and many others.”
The goal of Interbike is to drive the industry as a whole by the sharing of ideas, concepts, and products between exhibiting companies. Top cycling entrepreneurs, developers, non-profit board members, and advocates like Chris Kegal, owner and president of Wheel & Sprocket, will be giving seminars throughout the four day event. Chris will be discussing the “Five Excellencies” and how he overcame challenges in bike retail like customer service, inventory, and finding the balance between passion and discipline. Maybe he’ll even tell the story about his epic cross-country ride from Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine? “If I can be of service to anyone of my fellow retailers, I will be happy,” said Chris. That’s really the overarching emotion of the whole event this year.
The Interbike planners have been working round-the-clock. “Planning for trade shows as large as Interbike start immediately following the previous show. There are several aspects of the show that will be different than last year,” explains Justin.
- New location: This will be our 1st year at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center
- New Outdoor Paddock Area: This new area is located a few steps from the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, and will feature exhibitors, a test track, a beer garden, a food tent, a DJ and more. This area will also host “Throwback Thursday”, which will include industry bike races, a live 80’s cover band and will conclude with the USA CRIT Finals.
- New neighborhood on the show floor: The Mountain Bike Trailhead
- For the first time in the event’s history, bicycle shops are allowed to select some of their most loyal customers (average-Joes) to attend. Interbike by Invitation allows registered retailers the decision of choosing the most enthusiast customers to showcase the cycling industry. The number of average-Joes allowed per retailer is determined by their geography.
Another way for the common cyclist to gain access to Interbike is by doing what we love; participating in cycling events! Paid spectators or participants of Cross Vegas or Viva Bike Vegas can show their ticket stub and pay $25 or $20 accordingly for Interbike access on Sept. 20th.
