St. Patrick’s Day in the Mountains

There’s more to it than green beer. There’s also corned beef, Irish whiskey, live music, and believe it or not, ski­ing and run­ning going on as well.

Cop­per Moun­tain | Col­orado

Mt. Snow | Ver­mont
Fea­tur­ing live music on Main Street, at the base area and at The Snow Barn, Mt Snow cel­e­brates with The Bud Lite Sham Rock Week­end. Live music with God Shites on Fri­day, Enter the Hag­gis on Sat­ur­day and Joshua Tree on Mon­day will keep you danc­ing. There is, of course a search for that ubiq­ui­tous Pot-o-Gold for a sea­son pass, and ski­ing in cos­tumes on the mountain.

Breck­en­ridge | Col­orado
Breck is host­ing the Roy­al Flush Big Moun­tain Comp where con­tes­tants take on the steeps of Breck. One of the few Moun­tain towns with two Irish pubs Nap­per Tandy’s and Burke and Riley’s the Jamison’s should be flow­ing as much as the green beer.

Sad­dle­back Moun­tain | Maine
At Sad­dle­back Moun­tain in Maine there is a green coin search con­test and Geo-caching for sham­rocks. Search the moun­tain for the hid­den Pot-o-Gold and win a 2015 sea­son pass to the mountain.

Vail | Col­orado
If you feel like run­ning instead of drink­ing head to Vail for their 10k, 5k and 1k kids run. There is also a snow­shoe and Yax­trax cat­e­go­ry. There will be a post-race par­ty with free Bloody Marys and Irish cof­fee for every­one, of age that is.

Home­wood | Lake Tahoe
Chase a lep­rechaun around the moun­tain for prizes and find that Pot-o-Gold and get a sea­son pass for next year. Of course there are drink spe­cials at the moun­tain bars and Jamison’s is, of course the fea­tured drink.

Duran­go | Col­orado
The Saint Patrick’s Day Train is run­ning on a 52 mile roundtrip run to Cas­cade Canyon. The ride fea­tures live Celtic music from Durango’s own Kitchen Jam.  There will be corned beef sand­wich­es, Irish beer, Irish liquor and mixed drinks served dur­ing the trip.

Grand Targee Resort | Wyoming
Grand Targee will have two lep­rechauns roam­ing the moun­tain with Pot-o-Gold sea­son pass­es avail­able to who­ev­er catch­es the elu­sive char­ac­ters. They also fea­ture live music, drink and food spe­cials fea­tur­ing Guin­ness Stew, Shepherd’s pie and Fish and chips bas­kets fol­lowed by an Irish Sing-a-long.
