The Dou­ble Cross­er: Did you know?

On Sep­tem­ber 21st (that’s today!), 1961, Anto­nio Aber­ton­do, an Argen­tin­ian marathon swim­mer, swam across the Eng­lish Chan­nel, from Calais, France to Dover, Eng­land and back to become the first per­son to ever com­plete the dou­ble cross­ing. It took Aber­ton­do 43 hours and 10 min­utes to swim the salty chan­nel that is 21 miles wide between the two towns.
