Euro­pean coun­tries such as Switzer­land and Nor­way allow the activ­i­ty but the Nation­al Park Ser­vice strict­ly for­bids it despite endors­ing activ­i­ties such as hang glid­ing. In 2010, McNeely was tased by a park ranger in Yosemite after mak­ing a civ­il dis­obe­di­ence jump in the park.
