Patag­o­nia alpine ambas­sador and author, Steve House, had a lot of time to think about his life, his achieve­ments, and his regrets as he lay on a ridge on the north face of Mount Tem­ple. He’d just fall­en 80 feet, break­ing his ribs in 20 places and his pelvis twice. Res­cue was two hours away, and as his chest cav­i­ty filled with blood, his mind filled with all he’d done and still want­ed to do – at the top of that list was con­tribut­ing more to his community.

That was almost two years ago and from that life assess­ment, Alpine Men­tors was born. Alpine Men­tors helps to train the next gen­er­a­tion of alpin­ists by part­ner­ing them with expe­ri­enced climbers. The men­tors coach and encour­age the young climbers so that one day they can ascend the world’s great­est moun­tains in a light­weight, low-impact style.
