A “brilliant collection of DVDs and a flat screen television,” are just a few of the luxuries David Cornthwaite left behind in London when he set off on his mission to swim 1,000 miles through the Missouri River. Cornthwaite is attempting the journey to help raise $150,000 for CoppaFeel!, a breast cancer awareness charity.
Cornthwaite is fueled by more than just doing a good deed. He told KPTM TV, “I wanted to see exactly what I could achieve with my life and my time here. There’s an adventure to be had in our kitchen if we go looking for it, but a lot of people don’t.”
He began on August 10th in Chamberlain, South Dakota. With a team including a nutritionist and film crew following behind on standup paddleboards, Cornthwaite is scheduled to complete his adventure in St. Louis on October 5th. So far, he has raised $10,000.
The Breast Cancer Fund has been a strong advocate for the exposure and elimination of environmental and other preventable causes of breast cancer. The organization provides education and opportunities to raise awareness and money for scientific research. One such opportunity is the Climb Against the Odds 2010 — an organized climb in support of and dedicated to people touched by this disease.
The Clymb is honored to partner with this inspiring organization and two great women’s brands — Isis and Carve — to bring its members a wonderful new brand event: beginning today at 9am PST and running through Tuesday (5/11) at 9am PST, members will receive up to 70% off items from Isis and Carve; two companies that are all about inspiring women.
A portion of all proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Fund. This is what is commonly referred to as a win/win: you get an awesome deal on quality gear and help do your part in exposing and eliminating the environmental causes of breast cancer. To start saving, click here.
