IN OTHER NEWS:

One Small Step: Did you know? This day in 1969 saw one of the most momentous climaxes in recent adventure history as American astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon. Some people claim that photos taken by Armstrong and fellow astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin prove the landing was a hoax. For a good time, do a Google video search for “Buzz Aldrin punches conspiracy theorist” to see what happened to one unfortunate disbeliever when he confronted the former astronaut.

I’ve been booed when I say this, but I’m actually looking forward to the end of summer. With Labor Day weekend approaching, I’m anticipating camping trips with friends and somehow, camping always feels right when there’s a chill in the air.

Whenever possible, we’d like to present our brand partners to you in a new way. We want to go beyond posts that scream, “buy this!” One of the ways we’ve begun to do this is by sharing photos of the upcoming items we’ll be featuring from brands on our Facebook page and Twitter stream, and another is by sitting down with brand representatives so they can tell you in their own words what sets them apart from the rest. We hope this helps you make informed and confident purchases.

In preparation for our Jacob Bromwell event, president Sean Bandawat answered a few questions.

The Clymb: Jacob Bromwell sells authentic campfire, kitchen and fireplace products, but you also say you’re selling the “American experience.” What does that mean?

Sean Bandawat: Strictly speaking, we’re not in the product business. What we’re really selling is an emotional journey: away from the madness of modern life and into nostalgia, tradition, and the longing for a simpler era.  We’re all about letting our customers re-experience the simple and genuine American past as an antidote to our over-perfected modern lifestyle.  We hope to evoke within our customers a sense of family, pride, and connection to our past.  That’s why we do what we do.

TC: In a time of smartphones, wifi, and this constant need to be “plugged in,” Jacob Bromwell seems to encourage a slower pace and return to the basics? Why is that important?

SB: Embracing the authentic American past, despite its technical shortcomings, is what the Jacob Bromwell brand is all about   Advancements in commerce, technology, and transportation have hastened the dissolution of what matters most: our roots.  Traditional American ideals–such as rugged individualism, good citizenship, and the old-fashioned gathering of family and friends–have been forgotten in the midst of reality television, hip-hop music, and text messaging.  Our company is helping reverse the trend of nearly two centuries of weakening of the family unit.

TC: In speaking with members who own your camping products, tradition is a word that comes up often. We found that many items are handed down and have been in their families for years. What kind of guarantee do you offer?

SB: We offer a Lifetime Guarantee on all our products because they are guaranteed to last a lifetime.  Many items are indeed passed down from generation to generation.  Our products were used by the first settlers who pioneered the Great Plains, and the rugged explorers who charted new territories off the well-beaten Oregon Trail.  Still today, every Jacob Bromwell product is a handcrafted, historically-correct American masterpiece.  Favorites include the Original Popcorn Popper, Frontier Frying Pan, and Classic Tin Cup.

TC: What’s the most important quality Jacob Bromwell customers receive when they make a purchase?

SB: Most of our customers value the authenticity of our products more than anything else.  Everything is authentic about our products, from the materials we use to the manufacturing process. Our products are still made with American hands.  Even our logo represents the man’s own mark, made with his own hand.
