IN OTHER NEWS:
Beyond the Billa: Did you know? Like many surfers, Australian wave-chasing board shaper Gordon Merchant was inspired by the ocean. And his ideas would influence the future of the sport and surrounding industry forever. While living in a surf Mecca on the Gold Coast, Merchant founded a little board shorts brand called Billabong. His dirt-bag business, strangely named for an Oxbow-style lake, was destined to become synonymous with surfing. Oh, and he’s also credited with inventing the first leg ropes. Be sure to check out our collections of surf gear and surf-inspired apparel by the influential brand.
