Woman Skis the Seven Summits: Did you know? On October 18th (that’s today!), 2006, Kit Deslauriers became the first person to complete ski descents from all of the Seven Summits. Her quest began in 2004 when she became the first American and the first woman to ski from the summit of Mt. McKinley. For the next two years, Deslauriers went on a full-on climbing and skiing assault of the world’s highest peaks, which culminated today, at 11am, when she pushed off from the summit of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest (29,029 feet).
