Oakley MTB: Oakley invents each new product with a design philosophy called sculptural physics: the discipline of solving problems with science and wrapping those solutions in art. Supported by an infrastructure that includes the latest tools of technology, Oakley engineers and artisans continue to expand the company’s array of product categories. What that means is that Oakley is the authority on a lot more than the sunglasses that made it famous. Take for example this collection of the iconic brand’s innovative mountain biking gear and apparel. Featuring gloves, shorts, and more. Click through now!

If ever there was a polar opposite to the mountain manwich, it’s the PROBAR organic food bar. Hunger-destroying bars made from all-natural, 100% vegan organic ingredients, PROBAR products fill the trail-weary up on pure nutritional goodness, leaving them with a skip in their steps instead of a brick in their bellies. Adios Nova Albion: Did you know? On July 26 (that’s today!), 1579, English sea captain, pirate (at least that’s what the Spanish called him; the English celebrated him as a successful privateer), slaver, and otherwise famous-despite-his-swinish-ways Renaissance-era explorer Francis Drake set sail from modern-day California to cross the Pacific Ocean. The trip was part of the final leg of Drake’s celebrated circumnavigation of the world, making him the second expedition leader and first Englishman to accomplish the feat. When Drake first landed on the Pacific Coast somewhere north of modern-day San Francisco, he claimed the land for England and gave it the name Nova Albion.

The Game of Life: Did you know? On May 30 (that’s today!), 1911, the United States lost an influential pioneer. Close your eyes and take a moment of silence to mourn Milton Bradley, founder of the iconic game corporation that bears his name and father of the American board game industry. A few of the games Bradley invented that you may have played include The Game of Life, Candyland, and Battleship. He also established an official set of rules to croquet in 1866.

Like the beach boys said, “wouldn’t it be nice?” Nice to split winters between Alaska, Utah and Colorado, and spend summers shredding down in Chile. Video shoot in Switzerland? We’re there. Sure, we’d all like to ski all day and party all night like the pros, but for most of us, our addiction to powder means working like hell to fund the dream.

Surface Skis honors those of us who do whatever it takes to get max days on the mountain in their Working Class Heroes series – People like Doug Jambor who worked as a cook in the kitchen of a nearby resort for an entire season, eating for free, but barely scraping by so that he could ski, meet great people, and hit his first 100-day season. Doug, and others, are not only acknowledged, but they receive a sweet care package of Surface goodies to show their appreciation. For information or to submit to Working Class Heroes, click here.

And today you can make that hard earned dough go a little further with The Clymb hookup on Surface powder and all-mountain skis.
