All too often we find ourselves wanting to do more — or maybe wanting to do something — and we don’t know where to begin. We all have work, school, and family commitments and trying to balance those with just enough social activities to keep us sane can be tricky.
Through my community interactions on Twitter, I came across a foundation that not only does great works for those affected by Parkinson’s in the Northwest region, but they supply the necessary support and information for those wanting to help as well.
The Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to improving the qualify of life of the Northwest Parkinson’s community. They run programs that raise awareness and provide education, advocacy and care.
You can help them raise awareness and funds to continue to provide such programs by joining Team Parkinson’s. You can help by riding, supporting a cyclist, or hosting your own specialized event.
For more information about Team Parkinson’s Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic (July 9th ‑10th, 2011) here.
If you’re not in the Northwest area, the foundation has a helpful search tool that allows you to look up support groups in your area.
