Have you visited some of the amazing vistas our National Parks have to offer this year? Take a look at some of the Amazing photos visitors shot for the 2012 ‘Share the Experience’ photo contest. The National Park Foundation, partnered with the Active Network and others sponsored the 2012 photo contest. It encouraged visitors to submit photos that capture the beauty and wonder of our national parks. More than 26,000 participants submitted their photos to the contest between June 28th and December 31st 2012. The $15,000 grand prize went to Katherine Hawkins for her photo taken in Bridger Teton National Forest (USFS).
Here are the top three winners, in order, below: Adam Jewell — Isle Royale National Park — 3rd Place, Sue Cullumber — SaltRiver — 2ndPrize, and Katherine Hawkins — Bridger Teton National Forest — Grand Prize.
The goal of this year’s contest is to show off the 500 million plus acres of federal lands. You can enter the 2013 Share The Experience photo contest through December 31st. Find out more information by visiting the official Share the Experience website. People across the United States are encouraged to enter.
Nothing tells the tale of an epic adventure like the state of your gear when it’s over. If your gear could talk, which piece would have us listening with rapt attention? What has seen the most travels, crossed the most miles, and shared the most memories?
Share a pic of that gear and tell us in 50 words or less (Hey, your gear is doing most of the talking here!) why this gear has seen it all. You can post the pic to our Facebook wall, email it to email@example.com, or tag us on Instagram (#TheClymb). We’ll pick three winners for Clymb credit.
And trust us: With the Black Friday event we have planned for you, you’ll appreciate the credit. You have until tomorrow at 5pm EDT to get your pics in.
Congratulations to Leah Webb! This shot of a true ‘Mountain Mama’ enjoying a day of climbing at Cathedral Ledge in North Conway, New Hampshire won her Clymb credit. And it seems double congratulations are in order because Leah gave birth to baby Owen this past Saturday evening!
We want to see your best photo of you being an outdoor mom. This can be a shot of you, an expectant mom still enjoying the great outdoors, or a photo you enjoying the outdoors with your little one(s).
You can share your photo with us at contests(at)theclymb(dot)com and put ‘Mountain Mama’ in the subject line. We’ll pick a winning photo to receive $25 in Clymb credit. The deadline is Friday 9/7 at 3pm EST.
While you’re stocking up on new footwear, we want to see what’s being replaced. We all have that one pair of shoes, flip flops, or boots that have been put through it. They’ve accompanied us on many adventures and have the battle scars to prove it. Most people might call them worn and ugly, we call them well-loved.
Show us your most ‘well-loved’ shoes on Instagram and we’ll pick a few favorite pics to award Clymb credit, which you can then use to buy more footwear. Circle of life, people. Circle of life.
Tag your photos #TheClymb and #WellLovedKicks so we can judge and then keep your eyes peeled for your winning notification on Instagram. Contest ends tomorrow at 3pm Eastern.
We’re not a superstitious lot, but today is Friday the 13th and we’d be remiss if we didn’t have a little fun with that. In honor of today’s Howler Brothers event, we want to see your best Scream Face. And we don’t mean shock and awe, but downright terror. Like Ghostface just appeared in your doorway. Or you just logged into The Clymb and discovered that your procrastination led to missing out on the Howler Brothers Loggerhead. Like that.
Share your photos on Instagram and tag #TheClymb and #HowlerBros so we can see it. We’ll give you till Sunday 9am EST to get this one done. Be sure to check your Instagram comments to see if you’re a winner and claim your prize.
Taken from our daily email factoid, Did You Know?: The founders of Howler Brothers aren’t brothers. And they don’t howl. The name pays tribute to the howler monkeys that kept them up while in Costa Rica on surf trips. After a while, the startling howls became a part of the partners’ collective feeling of being in Central America and served as a constant reminder that they were in a good place, doing something they loved.
Inspired by today’s Toes on the Nose event, we want to see your little piggies. Stop what you’re doing and take a pic of your toes on… well, be creative. Toes on the desk? Toes on the chair? Toes on your hair? Toes on your boss, if you dare?
Share it on Instagram with #TheClymb #ToesOnTheNose so we can find it. Contest ends tomorrow at 3pm EST.
Tomorrow, we’ll give the best three some Clymb credit. Remember to hashtag it properly so we can find it. Also, keep checking your photo comments tomorrow to see if you’ve won. We’ll comment on the winning photos with instructions on how to claim your prize.
Note: We’re not responsible for the strange looks you may get from co-workers. It’s not our fault your co-workers aren’t that cool. And mad cool points if you can get toes on your nose.
And what better time to take fantastic pics than when you have a day off in the middle of the week to spend outdoors with family and friends? We want you to show us how you’re spending your 4th of July holiday outdoors.
Take a photo that best captures your Independence Day outdoors on Wednesday, July 4th and share it on Instagram. Tag it with #TheClymb and #RWBCLYMB (for Red, White, & Blue) so we can find it.
We’ll award three photos with $25, $15, and $10 in Clymb credit on Thursday morning.
Note: Don’t forget to tag the photos with #TheClymb and #RWBCLYMB so we can find your entry.
The deadline to submit your photos into our “I Wish I Was There” contest has passed and all submissions are now available for viewing on our Facebook page. We want to give a sincere thank you to all the entrants. This began as a fun Facebook contest, but it has evolved into a truly inspirational experience with other members and Facebook fans in absolute awe of all the adventures you’ve embarked on. We are honored that you shared these memories with us.
We received an unprecedented number of entries and we had to limit each person to 2–3 photographs per category. It seems a shame to pit them against each other, yet we must. Here’s how we’ll do it:
Over the next few days our team at The Clymb will narrow down each category (action and landscape) to ten finalists. We’ll then put the power in your hands, allowing you to vote on the photo in each category that you find the most breathtaking, the photo that most makes you say, “I wish I was there!”
When the voting period ends, the photo in each category with the most votes will win $50 to The Clymb. That’s right: We’ve increased the prize amount. We had to; those photos are stunning!
In the meantime, we encourage you to peruse each folder on our Facebook wall and take in all the beauty. If you have a photo in the running, please feel free to comment on it with further details. We’d love to hear the story behind such fascinating pics.
Congrats to our two winners. They’ll each receive $50 to The Clymb for sharing their Clymb gear in action this past July 4th weekend.
Jonathan Littauer top-rope climbing with the ClimbX Rockmaster shoes, chalk bag, and X‑Air Belay device at Great Falls State Park, VA. “The shoes assisted me in my first clean ascent of this route.”
Jen Runo in VIVOBAREFOOT
Congrats to both winners. Please send me your Clymb account email address so that I can award your credits. (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Thanks to everyone who entered our Your Gear in Action photo contest. Over 40 photos were submitted, all displaying Clymb-purchased gear in action. They were all great and much appreciated, but you know the saying, “There can only be one.” Well, in this case, three — three members have won a $50 credit to The Clymb. And they are:
Congratulations, guys! Please email me with your email addresses (the one you use for your Clymb accounts) so I can award your $50 credits! Send them to email@example.com
Thanks to everyone who submitted. We enjoyed sharing in your adventures.
We want to see the gear you’ve purchased in action. Submit a photo of you (or someone else) using gear or apparel purchased from The Clymb and you’re automatically entered for a chance to win one of three $50 credits to The Clymb.
Whether you’re rocking Reef sandals, turning back a SIGG bottle on a hike, or sailing down the slopes on a Jones board, we wanna see it. You can post your photo with a caption on our Facebook page or email them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’m gathering the entries and displaying them in their own album on our Facebook page — look for that later today.
We’ll pick our favorite three this Friday (5/20) and award the winners then.
Be creative, but more importantly, have fun! And if you need a membership, hit me up via Facebook or Twitter.
