Fresh on the menu today:
Ready to Run: The state of euphoria experienced by many while running is called a “runner’s high.” Whether you pound the pavement or log high-altitude mountain miles, running is a sport that offers great reward and requires little gear. However, the wrong gear can quickly turn a runner’s high into a runner’s low. Get your fix with Men’s and Women’s shoes and apparel from Saucony, Inov‑8, Hoka OneOne, Craft, & more.
NRG Bar: A bad energy bar can ruin a great day out. Say no to flavorless gut-bombs and eat a bar that is made with wholesome ingredients like oats, figs, dates, and ground flax. Engineered by a Marine and triathlete, NRG Bars are perfect for endurance events or daily life, allowing your body to perform and feel its best. Featured flavors are Chocolate Chip, Cranberry Almond, Lemony Lemon, and Pumpkin Ginger.
Salomon Apparel, Socks, & Footwear: Salomon was founded in 1947 in the heart of the French Alps, the birthplace of modern alpinism. Driven by passion for skiing and design innovation, Francois Salomon and his son George designed and perfected many of the first modern ski bindings. The company has since earned a reputation for excellence in designing goods for other outdoor activities, expanding its line to include everything from trail running footwear to technical apparel and socks. Today at The Clymb, we’re excited to be offering Men’s and Women’s Salomon footwear, socks, and technical apparel at member-exclusive pricing.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Planting The Seeds: Did you know? On August 9 (that’s today!), 1907, the first ever Scouting encampment came to a conclusion on Brownsea Island in England, setting the standard for future Scouts across the globe. During the course of the camp, boys participated in activities like camping, observation, woodcraft, chivalry, lifesaving, and patriotism. Founder Robert Baden-Powell started the organization to help support young people in their physical, mental, and spiritual development so that they can play constructive roles in society. His efforts kicked off the Scout Movement that would eventually become a non-governmental international organization with over 41-million members.
Happy Saturday, Clymbers. Hopefully you’re reading this on a smartphone while riding the lift up to make some late-season turns. Speaking of, how are your goggles faring? Have they become a veritable fog machine? Have they sporting more cracks than your Subaru’s windshield? In any case, don’t worry. We’ve got a big event featuring the top goggle brands today. Pick up your dream pair on the cheap. We’ve also got Salomon footwear and apparel, FuelBelt running accessories, and Gravis footwear and apparel on the docket. A little something for everyone.
Enjoy the weekend. We’ll catch up with you again on Monday. In the meantime, here’s some more information about today’s events:
Salomon: Salomon was founded in 1947 in the heart of the French Alps, the birthplace of modern alpinism. Today at The Clymb, we’re excited to be offering Salomon footwear and technical apparel for member-exclusive pricing.
FuelBelt: When driving into the backcountry, it’s a good idea to bring some extra fuel. The same holds true with distance running. FuelBelt designs lightweight pocketed waist straps for distance runners wanting an accessible place to store water bottles, energy gels and whatever else powers them to push past their limits. Top off with Men’s and Women’s FuelBelt running accessories, on sale today at The Clymb for member-exclusive pricing.
Gravis: Remove it from the box, slip it on and head to the beach or to the cantina because casual is comfortable with Gravis footwear and apparel. Need to get some work done while you relax? The lightweight Gravis Hood backpack sports a laptop sleeve and enough room for a six-pack and whatever else you need to get the job done. Act now and receive member-exclusive pricing on Gravis footwear, tees, and Hood backpacks.
Goggles: There’s a saying as old as skiing itself, the message of which rings as true today as it did thousands of years ago when goggles were no more than a pair of polished bones strung to the head by sinew: “Those who refuse to wear eye protection on the mountain won’t have a sweet pair of raccoon eyes to show off the next day at work.” Snow goggle technology may have matured faster than the people who use it but that doesn’t mean you should still be holding on to your Stone Age gear. Evolve with goggles from Spy, Optic Nerve, Electric, and more, on sale today at The Clymb for member-exclusive pricing.
PLUS… There’s still time to save on Uclear, KAVU, COAL, Cross, Timex, Looptworks, Teva, & Nils.
And just for fun…
Bone in the Snow: Did you know? Snow goggles weren’t always rainbow-tinted works of modern art. Invented by the Inuit people of the Arctic as a way to prevent snow blindness, traditional snow goggles were originally made from chunks of bone or ivory. The wearer would shave the bone to fit, cut some slits to let in light, rub the insides down with soot, and then strap the contraption to his or her head using sinew. Awesomely, DC Comics supervillain Captain Cold wears traditional-style snow goggles to prevent going blind from the glare created by the ice beams he blasts from his cold guns (which are generally aimed at Flash). In comic books at least, old technologies are always cutting edge. KRACKOW!
Welcome back, Clymbers. It’s Thursday and already Clymb HQ is abuzz with anticipation about this weekend’s shin-dig to celebrate our reaching one million members. Will a colleague surprise all with his or her unforgettable dance moves? Will there be scandal? All water-cooler bets on these matters will soon be resolved in a shower of free alcohol, awesome music, and shameless self-congratulation. We couldn’t have gotten here without you though, which is why the deals will keep coming and continue to get sweeter. The weekend isn’t upon us yet but there’s plenty for everyone to be excited about with today’s events.
Here’s what we’ve got going on:
prAna: With a name appropriately based on the ancient Sanskrit word for breath, life, and vitality of the spirit, prAna designs apparel for mindful recreationists who seek to explore the limits of their own energy through yoga and interactions with the natural world. For prAna athletes like Chris Sharma, climbing is a thing of meditation, not conquest. Seek balance in your life and your adventure kit with prAna Men’s and Women’s apparel (tees, hats, hoodies, and more), and accessories (towels, satchels, cadets, and more), on sale today at The Clymb.
Craft: In the beginning, Craft founder Anders Bengtsson spent an inordinate amount of time looking at his underwear. After heavy exercise sessions outside his home in Borås, Sweden, Bengstsson would weigh his skivvies and use a moisture gauge to measure how sweaty they were. He used his research to develop the ideal layer to wear next to the skin—a garment that transports moisture outwards with as little absorption into the fibers as possible. The resulting brand, Craft, is now a global leader in all types of peak-performance athletic apparel. Today on The Clymb we’re celebrating yet another example of Swedish ingenuity with Men’s and Women’s Craft cycling, running, and fitness apparel, including baselayers, jackets, shorts, bibs, gloves, socks, singlets, and much more.
CELSIUS: The founders behind San Diego-based CELSIUS launched the brand in 2003 with one simple goal: to translate the comfort and feel of their favorite skate shoes to performance footwear designed for the shred. Nearly a decade later, the company has built a strong community and developed a reputation for blending substance, style, and comfort. In 2009, CELSIUS was honored with a Boot of the Year award from Snowboard magazine. Award-winning, homegrown boots? On the cheap? Don’t miss out. Today on The Clymb we’ve got Men’s and Women’s CELSIUS snowboard boots.
Salomon: The mighty Dolomite Mountain region in northern Italy is a renowned alpine mecca for skiers, mountain bikers, BASE jumpers, hikers, climbers, and peak-peepers of all shapes and sizes. But it’s also known for something else: socks. Salomon performance socks are designed and knitted in the Dolomites, where testing product is as fun as it is productive. Today on The Clymb we’re happy to offer a little taste of outdoor Italy, with Salomon Men’s and Women’s performance run, bike and snow socks, on sale now.
MEDITATE ON THIS: Did you know? During the humble beginnings of prAna (now a multi-million dollar company), the founders cut and sewed clothing in their garage and shipped it to customers in surplus fruit boxes gathered from the local grocery store. They made hashtags from a concoction of oil and ground-up old newspapers that they then cut it into shape with a pizza cutter. And their first employee slept on a hinged bed that by day doubled as a shipping table.
