Icebreaker: New Zealand sheep have layers of wool that keep them warm and dry when squalls blow in from the South Pacific. Don’t envy the sheep. Join them with the base layers featured in this collection.

Fjällräven: Swedish for ‘arctic fox,’ Fjällräven creates sleek-looking technical outdoor apparel that’s tough, made for the mountains and tundra of northern Sweden.

Amplid: The Alps uppercut the sky. When you’re screaming down their steepest pitch, the Amplid skis and helmets featured in this collection let you hit back. Give ‘em all you got with this Swiss champion.

Heptathlon Hero: Did you know?

On September 24th (that’s today!), 1988, while competing in the Seoul Olympic Games, Jackie Joyner-Kersee set the women’s record for heptathlon. The seven competitions within the event include: 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m dash, long jump, javelin throw, and 800m run. Joyner-Kersee is only one of three women to ever earn over 7,000 points, and her mark of 7,291 remains the highest score of all time. And, she accomplished all her feats without the use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Moment: Moment is awesome. Not only do they use 95% domestically sourced ingredients and Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood cores in all their skis (every pair of which they craft by hand in Reno), they also say things such as, “just like you, we’re in it for the stoke, not the scrilla” on their website. Today on The Clymb, we are stoked to be offering Men’s, Women’s, and Youth skis, ski poles, and apparel from Moment for less scrilla than you’d have to fork over at retail.

Sampson: Since 1987, Sampson components have put riders on the podium in major cycling and triathlon events. Sampson components have helped win World Championship and Olympic medals along with countless Stars and Stripes jerseys of national champions. Treat your bike (and yourself) to a champion-worthy overhaul with Sampson pedals, water bottle cages, bike frames and more on sale today for member-exclusive pricing.

Wilderness Press: Two things that will never go out of style in the face of technological distraction are the outdoors and books. Whether you’re looking to master the mountain bike, brush up on your wilderness medical skills or find the best hike in the Grand Canyon area, Wilderness Press has what you need to read. Today on The Clymb, we are excited to be offering a huge selection (over 70 titles!) of Wilderness Press books for member-exclusive pricing. Getting them weathered and respectable-looking from use is up to you.

Grand Trunk: The recipe for adventure travel isn’t too complicated: Take a pinch of curiosity, a dash of grit and then shake it all up in a foreign land. When the smoke clears, you’ll have an unforgettable experience. And, if you do it right, you’ll also be sporting a few things from Grand Trunk—maker of the best gear for explorers of the road less traveled. If you’re the type of person who prefers adventure travel to a trip to the timeshare then you won’t want to miss out on this event. Throw a dart at the map and step into the unknown with Grand Trunk hammocks, travel accessories, and more for member-exclusive pricing today at The Clymb.

GRAND IDEA: Did you know? Relationships hatched with perfect strangers on the travel trail don’t always lead to dead ends. In 2001, the future founders of Grand Trunk crossed paths and exchanged contact information in Koh Phi Phi, Thailand while on separate backpacking trips. When John, from Seattle, moved to Kevin’s native Chicago a year later, he sent Kevin an email and the two met for a drink. As the beers and memories flowed, the two travelers decided to set out on another adventure. They would start selling hammocks, like the ones they’d grown fond of in SE Asia, to travelers. The seed was sewn and Grand Trunk was born. The company has since grown to be the leading name in adventure travel gear and accessories.

Oh hey, winter. Thanks for showing up. Better late than never though! Get geared up for all this welcome spring snow with today’s featured events:

Spyder: If apathy and a proclivity for the low-pressure mundane are poisons that lead to a sedentary life, Spyder is the antidote. The company designs technical apparel for skiers who are uncompromising in their dedication to the sport and unabashed in the mantra: Risk. Speed. Perform. Win. Today, we’re pleased to be offering Men’s and Women’s Spyder technical apparel. Don’t miss out! Hesitation would be toxic on this one.

Surface Skis: Right now, on the mountains and in their lab in the heart of Utah ski country, Surface Skis founder Mike Schneider and his crew are hard at work designing and testing products that will continue to push the boundaries of skiing. Surface Skis produces sharp-looking all-mountain performance twins fit for any terrain, from park to backcountry. What are you waiting for? Winter just got here. Free up your next mountain mission with a pair of Surface Skis. Why not take the whole family? We’ve got Men’s, Women’s and Youth models on sale today at The Clymb.

CELTEK: Pack it, roll it, and then pocket it for the lift, because that’s where it’ll be the best. About halfway up, take that sucker out. Palming it in your glove feels good, doesn’t it? Savor the feeling of mischievous anticipation. Now throw that snowball as hard as you can at your beginner-level friend, who is pulling himself off the ground just below the lift. Stay warm while making turns or mountain mayhem with artistically designed CELTEK performance snowboarding gloves, mittens, beanies, and facemasks, on sale now.

Did you know? Spyder once almost got KA-POW’d by Spider Man. In an article celebrating Australian skier and Spyder athlete Steven Lee’s 1985 Alpine World Cup win, Sports Illustrated referred to the athlete as “Spider Man.” It’s a dream for a brand to be featured in such a high-profile magazine but for Spyder, the honor soon turned into a nightmare. Marvel Comics sent the company a legal warning of trademark infringement. Before Marvel finally dropped action, Spyder founder David Jacobs believed his business, still relatively young, was doomed. Like a real Peter Parker, Lee went on to briefly take a new identity, working with Jackie Chan as a lead stunt skier and snowmobiler in the 1996 film, First Strike.

Chrome has launched what they call “a lowbrow travel guide” called WRENCHED. Check out their latest installment highlighting NYC:

I was bamboozled, hoodwinked, and led astray. OK, so really it was the crossing of wires that had me tease “bikes” on Twitter and Facebook yesterday, but I tend to be a bit dramatic.

What I should have said was, “Skis!” And not just any skis, but 4FRNT’s award-winning, uniquely-designed, stellar performance-providing skis. Voted Skiing Magazine’s Best in Test and Official Ski Test Selection and awarded Powder Magazine’s Skier’s Choice in 2010, 4FRNT has designed the raddest skis to ever grace powder. Members, today you can save up to 55% off 4FRNT skis for beginners and pros. It’s not seeing different things; it’s seeing the same things differently.

Spy Optic was founded by a group of action sports and motorsport enthusiasts that wanted to create better eyewear. With the support of world-class athletes and set apart by their innovative designs, Spy Optic saw fast growth and broke new ground. Their one-of-a-kind lens technologies were patented with the athlete in mind, be it surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, motorsports, and wakeboarding or skiing.

We are pumped to offer members of The Clymb up to 60% off  SPY googles beginning today at 9am PST.

Summer isn’t officially over, but we’re already getting geared up (no pun intended) for cooler weather outdoor activities. We’re starting off the week with a dual event; Icelantic skis and TREW apparel.

Icelantic is a Colorado-based ski company that supports an independent, artistic, creative and passionate lifestyle. Their skis are made by American craftsmanship with high-quality materials and unique graphic designs. In a word, they’re gorgeous.

It would seem that Icelantic skis and TREW apparel were made to go together. Based out of Hood River, Oregon, TREW is an outerwear company that believes life on snow inspires creativity. They make durable and reliable outerwear for the inspired, dedicated rider.

Members of The Clymb will receive up to 60% off in this exclusive dual-brand event. A free membership can be obtained by sending us a tweet or posting on our Facebook page.
