Australia hopes to produce some future world and Olympic triathlon athletes with the partnership between Sheldon College and Triathlon Australia. The goal of the program is to help students achieve their athletic goals without sacrificing their academic ones.
Principal Dr. Lyn Bishop told the Bayside Bulletin, “By working hand in hand with triathlon coaches we will be able to give athletes the chance to be the best that they can be.”
If you could/could have attended a school with a program for an outdoor activity, which activity would it be? What would be your favorite class? Get creative and we’ll award one answer with some Clymb credit.
One of the newest additions to the Olympic games, triathlons test the true heart of an athlete. Standard participation requires contestants to complete a 1.5 km swim, 40 km ride, and 10 km run. These three endurance races push the body to the limit. Mental fitness as well as physical fitness are required to prevent bonking; training is key to the success of any athlete. This drive to excel and go beyond drives SUGOI apparel. Inspired by athletes like you who push the limits, SUGOI is committed to providing training gear that incorporates the newest technology while staying fashion-forward.
With the two year Olympic triathlon qualification period ending in May, the 2012 Summer Olympics are just around the corner. Athletes to watch include: Alistair Brownlee (England), Emma Moffitt (Australia), Paula Findley (Canada), Jarrod Shoemaker (USA).

There’s never a dull moment for a triathlete. World Ironman Distance record holder and four-time World Champion, Chrissie Wellington understands this better than most athletes. Dedicating the last 5 years of her life to Ironman, Wellington has earned 13 victories in 13 races! Requiring extreme dedication and commitment, achievements such as this are highly impressive. Although, Wellington has announced her plans for taking a hiatus in 2012, there is no questions that she will continue to inspire athletes worldwide.
With constant demands on the body, athletes like Wellington know that performance apparel can play a pivotal role in achieving success. There are few clothing brands that understand this relationship between an athlete and their gear. Compression technology combining power, flex, and weight set 2XU apart from other apparel lines. A recent partner of the World Triathlon Corporation and Ironman, 2XU strives to continually develop new technology that will take athletes to the next level.
The Clymb also wants to help you raise the bar for your fitness goals! For the next three days, log in to your Clymb account to take advantage of amazing members-only deals on 2XU gear and SUGOI performance apparel.

We’re starting off the week with a four-brand cycling/tri event you won’t want to miss.
In 1975, recreational skater Inze Bont decided to fiberglass the back of his leather skate to gain extra support. 35 years later, Bont’ s innovative approach has crossed over to cycling world, becoming one of the world’s leading footwear manufacturers. We have an awesome selection of cycling shoes including the Bont A‑Three; a fully heat moldable, handmade, lightweight racing shoe loaded with features.
Ultimate Direction is a hydration pack company focusing on triathletes, endurance runners, cyclists and anyone active looking for a lightweight, well-functioning, hydration solution — like their Fastdraw Extreme; its neoprene band wraps around the bottle and stops the runner’s body heat from warming up the liquid inside.
Dedicated to speed and performance, Castelli succeeds in producing the most lightweight, compact, and durable cycling apparel there is. Among their top-notch cycling apparel, we’re offering the Women’s Spiro Jersey; its microfleece makes for a nice warm jersey that wicks away moisture to keep you cozy.
We’re jazzed to partner with Uvex again. We have a nice selection of their helmets in cool colors. Check out the Supersonic GT with it’s extremely safe, low weight, solid helmet construction.
The best part of all of this is that you, our dear members, get all of this for up to 55% off. Only members will be able to view the details, so hit us up on Twitter or Facebook if you need a membership invitation. And if you’re still looking for some last minute gift ideas, we now have e‑cards that are delivered instantly.
Check out this video and see why Bont’s cycling shoes are the most heat moldable shoes on the market:

Terra Castro shares valuable lessons learned from her grandfather in a blog that will hopefully inspire us all.
What mountains are you willing to climb and conquer to achieve the success you are capable of? Will you stand up and BELIEVE when it seems like there may not be hope to go on? Have you looked yourself in the mirror and committed to the goals you have set upon your heart? In these instances you must BE BOLD. All it takes is that first step. Take that step, start the climb, and be fueled by those who inspire you.
I am a professional Ironman triathlete. I have been in the sport of “swim-bike-run” since 1997 when at the age of 17, my grandfather nudged me to toe the line with him. Since then I have raced around the world as an elite junior triathlete/duathlete for Team USA, turned professional in 2003, progressed to half-ironmans in 2004 (1.2 mile swim-56 mile bike-13.1 mile run) and in 2005 I completed my first Ironman (2.4 mile swim-112 mile bike-26.2 mile run). 2005 was a key year for me as I signed a contract with the LUNA Pro Team and have been racing as a member of this team ever since. August 29, 2010 will be my next Ironman in Louisville, Kentucky.
Triathlon is my job- when the alarm screams wake up at 4:45am for my track session with coach- I am fueled by the goals I have set…and a bit of coffee. As I crawl into bed at 9:30pm, every muscle strand tight and tired from the hours of training, I have peace that I am one step closer to the peak of the mountain before me. Every day I have the choice to BE BOLD thanks to the inspiration of a special person in my life.
My grandfather (“Papa”) opened my eyes to the beauty of sport and competition. He’d scream at me during High school track meets and taught me how to drink from a water bottle without falling over while riding the bike. My Papa is now 79. He has survived Prostate cancer, a broken neck that put him in a halo for 6 months (thanks to a bike crash), and is now a 2 time Kidney Cancer survivor. With a broken neck he’d hike with poles or walk with a walker on the track timing his mile splits.
Papa and I
In July 2010 he raced a duathlon, only 6 months after his last diagnosis (and with one kidney) and ran 16 miles last week with a friend for his long run. As you can see, I grew up with the idea of BEING BOLD, right in front of me. My Papa’s grit, his passion, and ability to overcome challenge after challenge with grace, gives me courage. How could I not climb on?
With a little bit of courage, grace and passion we can all climb up and over. We can all BE BOLD.
