Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu is an undisputed mecca for all surfers worth their salt. They flock from across the globe to test their mettle on what’s often considered one of the most dangerous waves in the world. When huge winter swells hit the reef at Pipeline it forms a large, hollow, A‑frame shaped wave with a thick, curling tube.
No video captures the beauty, carnage, and chaos of a session at pipeline more than Eric Sterman’s aerial footage. From this perspective we can see the lethal reef lurking just beneath the surface. We can see the rainbows that launch from the wave’s crest. And we have a great look at the poor souls who get tossed over the falls of this glorious wave.
