A skimboard is similar to a surfboard but it’s smaller, significantly less buoyant, and does not have fins. Used to “skim” on the thin wash of waves that have broken and rushed onto the beach, a skimboard is never used to surf.
That is until Brad Domke came along.
Large overhead barrels are scary enough when riding a full-sized surfboard that has been carefully engineered to take on these behemoth waves. Brad Domke charges into these monsters with nothing more than a finless skimboard under his feet.
No modifications have been made to his board. There are no fins, and very little rocker.
Watch this video of Domke hucking himself through some massive waves and ask yourself; is he surfing, skimboarding, or creating an entirely new sport?
