In October of 1982 four kayakers from across the nation tempted fate and plunged through the Niagara River Gorge, home to some of the largest whitewater in North America. After the Niagara River launches 167 feet over the most massive waterfall in the world, the river drives with a fury for over six miles before mellowing. Within that six-mile stretch the rapids are so large, powerful, and dangerous that they are closed to boating. In this special case, however, these four kayakers were allowed to make the run for an episode of American Sportsmen.
