U.S. Ski Team champion skier Lindsey Vonn was airlifted to the hospital after crashing on the Super‑G course in The World Championship in Austria this morning. The video above shows Vonn attempting to land a jump, lose her balance, and tumble down a hill, losing a ski in the process. According to the U.S. ski team medical director Kyle Wilkens, Vonn sustained a torn ACL and MCL in her right knee and a lateral tibial plateau fracture.
While these injuries and their recovery will require Vonn to miss the rest of the season, it’s expected that she’ll be able to compete in the 2013–14 World Cup season and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
