Rock Climbing Phenom Nabs Hardest Route

The Czech climbing prodigy Adam Ondra just claimed one of sport climbing’s most difficult ascents.  The La Dura Dura route in Oliana, Spain has eluded climbers for years, but Ondra claimed the 165-foot 5.15c pitch.

The biggest name in climbing, Chris Sharma, bolted the route and had been working on the project for over a year. But the lanky, light, and quick spidermonkey style of Ondra was especially suited to what’s been dubbed as the hardest sport climb in the world.

This incredible accomplishment by the 20-year old climber catapults him into the rock star realm of climbers.

Ondra is known for the emotional intensity that he brings to his climbs, and as the video captures, he’s also gained a reputation for his loud, grunting style.
